The pet parent should make the final choice — not do the matching

askKynos does the matching work. The pet parent makes the final choice.

There is an important difference between helping someone search for a pet sitter and actually matching a pet with one.

A search system can narrow the field. It can show who is nearby, who is available, and who has a profile worth reading. That is useful.

If the next step is for the family to explain their pet from scratch, ask every sitter the same compatibility questions, book a stack of calls, and work out the fit themselves, the system has not completed a match. It has helped with a search.

The work should happen before the list appears.

Smart Match is designed to do that work first: understand the pet — temperament, energy, routine, health needs, social comfort, handling, environment — and understand the caregiver — experience, capabilities, comfort, availability, reach, and the kinds of pets they are actually prepared to care for.

A good match also depends on the kind of care, and some things are not tradeoffs. If someone is not eligible for that pet or that request, they should not rank lower. They should not appear.

First, remove the people who clearly should not be considered. Then compare whoever remains on what actually matters for this animal and this job. Then return the strongest matches.

The parent still decides. They should not have to build the shortlist.

At that point the pet parent should absolutely make the final choice. Talk to the person. Ask questions. Decide who they trust with their animal. That judgment should not disappear.

They should be choosing among people who are already well matched. They should not have to do the matching themselves.

This is where AI is useful — not as a replacement for the parent, and not as a replacement for the sitter. It helps turn what a family already knows about their pet into something the matching system can use: routines, behavior, care needs, the free-text details that usually sit unused until someone else has to interpret them on a call.

The goal is not to take the last decision away. The goal is to make that decision better.
